Winkler Update: Polenta of Recipes Now Up!
“If it came from a plant, eat it. If it was made in a plant, don’t.” – Michael Pollan
Spring has arrived! I don’t know about you but this winter seems to have been awfully long… maybe it’s because we experienced numerous blizzards, rain, cold, warmth, sleet, sun, wind, and bitter cold… You definitely have to be tough to handle Manitoba winters!
March is just about over…. We set up at the Morden Home and Life show and it was nice meeting some of you for the first time as well as seeing those of you that are already familiar with our delicious products. Thank you for stopping at our table! We always enjoy engaging with you!
We hosted two private tasting events this past month. They are always fun and no two are ever the same. Our last one was a rather interesting because of some last-minute plumbing issues but the group was gracious and patient with us as we dealt with the issue.
Our “Taste of Maine” Cooking Class was a huge hit with our staff and guests alike! Our recipes are always featured on our website after our classes are finished for the month, like our Blueberry Polenta Cakes shown here. Delicious! (Click here to check out our recipes!)
If you’ve never attended one of our cooking classes, they are a lot of fun! Register with a spouse, family member, or friend. You get to sit and watch our chef prepare food, ask him questions about the food he’s preparing, or any food prep questions in general. You have the chance to sample everything he makes, AND shop for 20% off on all oils and vinegars 200 ml and up that night. You’ll go home with new ideas on how to use olive oil and balsamic vinegar to make your meals healthy and delicious!
Our next cooking class on Monday, April 17, is “Louisiana Cuisine” and with only a few spots vacant be sure to come in or call to reserve your spot! Click here fore more Cooking Classes info!
We care about healthy eating and pleasing your palette! Our store owner Bev, is always doing more research in an effort to provide you with the freshest gourmet oils and vinegars that are second to none. She also strives to carry food products like gourmet sauces, mustards, a line of olives (of course), flavoured sea salts, pasta, and even CHOCOLATE--made in Winnipeg especially for us using our oils and vinegars!
In case you didn’t know, here in the Winkler store we have fresh sourdough bread delivered each Thursday before noon from Valley Bakery! It is so tasty and much easier to digest than regular bread.
Do you wonder how to store your bottles of oils and vinegars? We carry hand made wooden crates in a variety of styles that you can put on your counter so your products are easily accessible. As always, you are welcome to come in and sample our oils and vinegars before you buy; after all, we are a tasting room and it’s a unique experience playing with different pairing samples before you decide which flavour you want to take home with you.
