Winkler Update: Christmas and Grapefruit Happiness

“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.” ― Edith Sitwell

I came across this quote that resonates deeply with my heart as this year comes to an end and I reflect on the month of December and look ahead to 2017. Welcome to winter wonderland in Manitoba! Have you taken the time to go for a drive to see the snow architecture? It’s amazingly beautiful! There is something magical about a winter scene that draws me in each and every time!

Our staff at the store genuinely enjoys helping you find the right products when you walk through our door, so whether you came in to shop for a personal gift, a corporate gift, or a gift for yourself, it is our pleasure to serve you! The Christmas season was busy, but we had prepared in advance and before we knew it, Christmas was here! We still have a few pre-made gift packs left so if you have an after Christmas party, be sure to stop in and see what we have in store.

A number of customers have asked us about our Cooking Classes or Private Tasting Events (called Olive Oil 101). We plan to resume both again soon so please check out our website and follow us on Instagram click here, or Facebook click here, where we will be sure to post what is coming up.

In December, Grapefruit White Balsamic arrived in Winkler. This a new balsamic vinegar for us, and now Grapefruit White Balsamic paired with Herbes De Provence Olive Oil is my absolute new favourite pairing!! So delicious! It's been such a hit that we are already running low, but rest assured, we will be bringing this one back asap!

On a personal note, we went on a quick weekend getaway to celebrate our daughter’s birthday with her in Edmonton where she lives and attends university. Less than two weeks after we got home, we had to say good-bye to my father-in-law when his health deteriorated very rapidly over three days and he died. Life seems to be a constant change in seasons, with me learning how to celebrate not only the joys but learn through the sorrows.

There is a time for everything under the heavens and I’m most grateful for family, friends, boss, and co-workers who walk alongside to support me through it all. Home is where the heart is and this year especially, I’m thankful for my home where I can sit by the fire wrapped in warmth regardless of howling wind, cold temperatures, or heartaches.

I wish you all a new year that will draw you closer to those you love. Seize each moment you can to celebrate with family, food (from our store), fun, and fellowship!

Happy New Year!
